Activities
Shelter for Homeless:
  • PRAN has been successfully running a Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH) under Controller of Vagrancy, Department of Women and Child Development & Social Welfare, Govt of West Bengal since February 2013. It is one of the best SUH in West Bengal recognized by Government of West Bengal, Controller of Vagrancy, Department Women and Child Development & Social Welfare in the year 2014-15, 2015-2016, 2016-17 and 2017-18. We have been running another Shelter for Urban Homeless Project under DAY-NULM at Haldia Municipality since April, 2017.
  • PRAN has also been running another’s 4 Shelter for Urban Homeless Projects under Day-NULM at (a) Tamralipta Municipality in Purba Medinipore, (b) Krishnanagar Municipality in Nadia, (c) Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) in Kolkata and (d) Berhampore Municipality in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The objective of the shelter is to provide night and to arrange permanent 24x7 shelters including safe & secure protection, drinking water, sanitation, medical facility, recreation facility and providing food.
  • The project team of PRAN is capable of handling issues related to homeless people through arranging proper shelter for them maintaining clean and healthy environment living through effortless support by the Govt. of West Bengal.
  • Shelter Management Committee (SMC): The SMC is pro-active to monitor the functioning of the shelter home. In every quarter the SMC conducts to evaluate the progress and challenges to run a shelter. The SMC also guide the project team for better functioning with their valuable feedbacks.
  • Awareness camp: The Project team of PRAN have conducted awareness camps in every month to sensitize and disseminate information regarding the facilities provided by the Government for SUH to the general masses.
Residential School for Deprived Urban Children:

We have been running 2 Schools: (1) Kailash Vidyamandir – for Boys and (2) The Park Institution for Girls (both are 100 Children). This was sanctioned by the Samagra Shiksha Mission (SSM), Kolkata. The objective of the project is to mainstreaming through proper shelter and education in 24 hours (age group 9 to 16 years) and class between V and class X ( admit into the formal school) along with special attention in extra curriculum activities like cultural activities including song, dance, drawing, craft work etc.

Excellence of our Associates:
  1. 2 children have been selected as a regular player for training and technical guidance in KUCP Football Academy, West Bengal.
  2. 2 children have been selected as a regular player for training and technical guidance in Southern Football Academy, Kolkata.
  3. 2 children have been selected for Volley Ball training at Mohan Bagan Athlectic Club (Junior), Kolkata.
  4. Children got 1st Prize (Junior) and 2nd Prize (Sr.) in Quiz competition, organised by Treasure of Innocence.
  5. Annual Sports: 35 children got 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize in every events/sports, organised by Kailash Vidyamandir.
  6. Madhyamik Result: Children are ranked 1st Division with letter marks.
Community Mobilisation:

Our main intend is to mobilize the community through stakeholder consultation process. We have frequently conducting FGD (Focus Group Discussion) to know the problem of the society and ranking the problem as per need of the society. FGD also help to participate in the meeting and take decision for the benefit of the family as well as the society. Community mobilization process is also help to build-up rapport with the common people that people can understand of the organisation and its activities.

Legal Literacy for adolescent girls:

The objective of the camp are: (a) to educate adolescent girls about their rights and duty of the society, (b) to aware regarding law specially women, (c) to aware regarding reporting system or complaint (FIR) lodge to a Police Station [mainly when they became victims and or shows any oppression in front of her], and (d) to train how to united women folk for any development or any social issues. Up till now, we have covered 5136 adolescent girls who are studying in schools, colleges and university.

Health awareness camp:

It is main responsibility to disseminate health information to the masses. We have already 354 health awareness camps in different district of West Bengal. The main objective of the camp is to prevent any disease and living without any diseases. We have also imparting training regarding first-aid and provide knowledge regarding primary health that people can send immediately to the doctors for early diagnosis and proper treatment and also proper guide.

Environmental camp:

The objective of the camp is to reduce pollution and check pollution, noise and all type of hazards. During the camp we are trying to demonstrate the effect of pollution. Local peoples representative, Gram Pradhan, councilors, social workers, school teachers also invited to strengthening the camp. We have also engaged students for better practices and motivated them to avoid bad practices.

Violence against women programme:

The main objective of the programme is to empower them about their rights and duty of the society. Women of the society have oppressed by her family, husband, son, daughter, father-in-laws, mother-in-laws and neighbours.

Self-Help-Group (SHG):

The objective of the SHG is to empower women through Vocational skill development training and economic support. They also formed a user group for maintenance of community assets.
